Dbvisit is enterprise class database replication software, and it fully automates the Oracle Standby Database solution. Dbvisit provides high availability by ensuring that the standby database is automatically kept up to date with the primary database.
Why Dbvisit:
Dbvisit is a very cost-effective Oracle standby database solution
compared with upgrading to Oracle Enterprise Edition (EE) to enable
utilisation of Oracle Data Guard. The price difference between Oracle
Standard Edition One (SE1) and Oracle Enterprise Edition (EE) is
US$25,000* per processor.
What is unique about Dbvisit:
Dbvisit runs as an executable and runs outside the database (not
using PL/SQL packages or triggers), which means it offers precise
control over the timing of the updates and does not interfere with
normal database processing. Dbvisit does not run as an agent or daemon
as these need to be monitored to ensure they are still active (note:
Data Guard runs as a daemon).
Dbvisit compresses the archive logs before they replicated to the
Oracle standby database. This greatly reduces the need to have a high
bandwidth link.
Dbvisit is secure. It does not use complex SQL*Net
configurations. This reduces the number of ports that need to be opened
on the firewall and increases security.
Dbvisit uses ssh (secure shell) on Linux, Unix and Windows as the
transportation mechanism.
Dbvisit can even replicate the database updates through the Internet to
a remote standby server in a remote office where this database can be
used for reporting purposes or current stock information.
